Maddie, Tai, welcome to your Hub Residency! We want you to meet our wonderful readers, would you like to introduce yourselves? 

Serious Actors Version: We are two Meanjin-based artists who love theatre, storytelling, and being absolutely silly.

Silly Version: We are two potty-trained performers, here to plunge into the absurd and smear the stage with some high-brow toilet humour.

Thank you so much for providing a serious AND silly introduction. As someone who is fluent in silly speak, I appreciate you taking the time to translate. 

I would love to know more about the work you will be creating during your Hub Residency this year. What’s the elevator pitch?

Follow two best friends fight the system, find themselves, and fart up a storm in this theatrical dump of silly, stinky, campy stupid with a whole lot of heart. 

This sounds electric! How do you imagine audiences reacting to this glorious event?

“Gosh who knew farts could be so hot and sexy!”

“My heart was moved, so was my gut.”

I think you are right on the money there. You two have such a fantastic back and forth. I cannot wait to see this cabaret hit the festival! 

What about the residency excites you most? 

Tai: I’m so excited for the opportunity to make queer theatre, to write a show about issues I believe are important, and to do so with a big dose of silliness. Also, I’m unbelievably grateful to get to do this with my best friend.
