AN ENSEMBLE FOR YOUNG ACTORS READY TO CHALLENGE THEIR CRAFT, WORK WITH LEADING ARTISTS & PERFORM AT BACKBONE FESTIVAL.

In 2026, students (Years 9-12) chosen for YCP will stage an exciting new adaptation of MACBETH in collaboration with industry professionals from Backbone Youth Arts and leading physical theatre company Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre.

Students will experience:

• industry-driven weekly workshops & holiday intensives to explore new theatre-making processes

• be part of a collective of young artists who are dedicated to creating great theatre

• work directly and network with leading artists

• get experience in the production process of a new work

• be featured at Qld’s largest youth arts festival, BACKBONE FESTIVAL in October 2026.

Students will work with Indiah Morris, Artistic Director of Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and Stephen Quinn, Executive Director of Backbone Youth Arts as well as a team of industry professionals, to explore a fresh and modernised take on Shakespeare’s most haunting work, MACBETH.

GROUP AUDITION SESSION - MONDAY 30 MARCH (4:30 - 6:00PM) at 28 TALLOWWOOD STREET, SEVEN HILLS (SEVEN HILLS HUB - HOME OF BACKBONE YOUTH ARTS)

GROUP AUDITION DETAILS - We will make this as fun and chill as possible! Participants will be asked to bring along a 1 min monologue (Shakespearean or Contemporary) and participate in some group drama activities. See you there!

Cost per term: $400

Full cost over the year: $800

Cost is inclusive of all costuming and props as well as all workshops, guest artist intensives and intensives throughout the process.

YCP fees can be paid by term or fully upfront. Payment schedules and credit card facilities are available for YCP fees. Discounts can be applied for siblings who are both selected to be involved in YCP as well as students who are enrolled in Backbone’s Young Creator Workshops.
