YOUNG CREATOR PRODUCTIONS

What is Young Creator Productions?

Backbone’s new youth ensemble will be a place for students Yrs 9-12 who are ready to challenge their acting craft in fresh and exciting ways and build a groundbreaking new work with industry professionals. In 2026, students chosen for YCP will stage a new adaptation of MACBETH in collaboration with Backbone Youth Arts and Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre.

Students will experience industry-driven weekly workshops as well as holiday intensives to explore new theatre-making processes, be part of a collective of young artists who are dedicated to creating great theatre and get experience in the production process of a new work, ready to be featured at Qld’s largest youth arts festival, BACKBONE FESTIVAL in October 2026.

YCP students are bold, energetic young artists who are looking to forge new ideas, strong skills and acting craft, as well as network with like-minded peers and industry professionals keen to build the next generation of Australian talent.

Students will work with Indiah Morris, Artistic Director of Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and Stephen Quinn, Executive Director of Backbone Youth Arts as well as a team of industry professionals, to explore a fresh and modernised take on Shakespeare’s most haunting work, MACBETH.
