PILOT Artist Residency applications now open!

 

Young artists, it’s time you’re in the driver’s seat.

Are you a creative under 30 in the first stage of development on your next big idea? An event, a play, a visual art exhibition, or something else? We want to hear about it.

PILOT is an artist residency program where three individual early career creatives will be employed part-time at Backbone to make their new idea come to life. Enmeshed into the operations at Backbone, PILOT artists will be given the tools to make their new idea happen, and training in producing to take into your independent practice.

PILOT artists will receive:

  • Paid employment (15 hours per week) at Backbone

  • $1,000 cash contribution towards making their idea come to life at Backbone Festival 2022

  • Support from industry mentor, Chelsea McGuffin, and Backbone staff

  • Free space to develop your idea

Applications Open: 18 May 2022 

Applications Close: 11:59pm, 12 June 2022 

Interviews: Week 20th of June

Position Start Date: 4 July 2022

Position End Date: 2 December 2022 

Backbone Festival: 24 October - 14 November
