HUB Residency applications now open!

Do you need time? How about some space?

Backbone’s HUB Residency is here to provide artists with both!

Applications currently paused.

Are you a creative under 30 who needs time and space to bring your ideas to fruition? Or do you create work for Young People & Families and need support to bring your next work to life? An event, a play, a visual art exhibition, or something else?  We want to hear about it.

Backbone’s HUB Residency is an artist residency program where you will be given up to 100 hours of free studio time at Backbone’s Seven Hills Hub to make your ideas come to life, and present them as a part of Backbone Festival 2023.

Open to individual creative practitioners and groups across all disciplines, Backbone’s HUB Residency is an artist-led opportunity allowing artists the freedom to focus on process rather than outcome, and germinate new ideas that are curious, untamed and experimental.

HUB residents will receive:

  • Up to 100 hours of studio time at Backbone's Seven Hills Hub venue

  • In-kind Producing support and advice from Backbone producers and leaders.

  • Access to Backbone's available technical resources and equipment.

  • Opportunities for community engagement (WIP showings, open rehearsals etc.)

  • Potential performance outcome during Backbone Festival in October 2023.
