Empowering young people with Backbone’s Child Protection Week Workshops

Join us for a weekend of creativity, empowerment, and safety awareness!

Backbone Youth Arts is excited to host two creative workshops for Child Protection Week, focusing on ages 8-11 and 12-18. On Saturday 9th of September, at our beloved Seven Hills Hub, we invite Primary and Secondary Age artists to join us for a day of making and learning.

Primary Age Workshop (Ages 8-11):

WHEN: 11:30 am - 1 pm
WHAT: Get ready for a journey of imagination and safety exploration! Our young artists, aged 8 and above, will come together to create a stunning visual art installation that embodies the essence of safety networks, empowerment, and support. Through engaging discussions, drama games, and collaborative art activities, participants will not only learn key messages and themes of Child Protection Week but also contribute to a beautiful representation of safety and unity. Let's nurture a world where every child feels protected and valued.

Secondary Age Workshop (Ages 12-18):

WHEN: 1:30 pm - 3 pm
WHAT: Empowering teenagers with the tools they need for a safer and brighter future! In this workshop, designed for ages 12 and above, we'll delve into the realms of healthy relationships, personal safety, and the strength that comes from a strong support system. Our engaging facilitators will guide participants through meaningful discussions and art-making activities. Together, we'll craft a visual masterpiece that symbolizes resilience, awareness and the power of standing together to ensure a secure environment.

Across these workshops, young artists will create elements of a visual art installation that will be exhibited at Seven Hills Hub for the next year.

As part of our commitment to the community, we'll also be distributing child safety resource packs to parents and community members.
