Marketing & Communications Officer - Indiah Morris

Indiah Morris is an independent theatre-maker, designer, and visual artist. She is the Artistic Director of Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company and Founder and Artistic Director of The Drawer Productions. Passionate about the arts community, she immerses herself in exciting, innovative, and trans-disciplinary works as a designer, director, performer, and regular patron.

Indiah holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Queensland University of Technology, in Drama and Graphic Design. She has studied and made work within a number of Brisbane theatre companies; from Incubator with PlayLab, Assembly with La Boite Theatre Company, and Zen Zen Zo’s Creative Entrepreneur Internship. All after learning from a multitude of Brisbane performance ensembles in the early stages of her career. Alongside her work as a designer, she is an award-winning playwright, taking home Queensland Theatre’s Young Playwrights Award in 2018 and has performed as an actor and artist in residence in Brisbane Grammar School’s production of A Few Good Men.

Indiah has a long history with Backbone, acting in the 2017 collaboration with Curious Directive titled Frogman, a member of the 2018 and 2020 Performance Ensembles, and performing in the 2020 arts incursion program at Calamvale Community College.

In recent years, she has made an impact on the independent theatre scene directing sell-out seasons of SHELTER: The Immersive Experience, taking home the Melbourne Fringe Tour Ready Award and the Brisbane Immersive Award for Outstanding Immersive Production. In 2022, her first children’s book (Amazing Animal Poems: An Anthology of Children's Animal Poems (A-Z)) was published; her illustrations accompanying the work of author Cam Wyllie.
