We’re Moving to Meeting Hub: A New Way to Book with Backbone

Backbone is rolling out a new online booking system for our venue: Meeting Hub. It’s designed to make hiring our spaces smoother, simpler, and more transparent for everyone - whether you're a long-time hirer or booking for the first time.

From now on, all new bookings will be managed through Meeting Hub. Just head to our website and click SEND A BOOKING ENQUIRY to get started.

How It Works

Meeting Hub is a self-service platform where you can:

  • View real-time availability of our spaces

  • Submit and manage booking requests

  • Cancel or reschedule bookings

  • Review details and make changes

  • Pay for bookings upfront, once approved

You’ll need to create an account to use the system, and fill out our New User Registration Form to confirm your documentation (like Public Liability Insurance or proof of Backbone Membership). Once your account is approved, you’ll be able to book directly through the portal.

Please note: Your previous bookings won’t appear in Meeting Hub, but they’re still confirmed - and you’ll still receive your usual lockbox codes ahead of each session.

Introducing Our New Pricing Tiers

As part of this update, we’re also introducing new pricing tiers to better reflect the range of people and projects that use our venue. These changes help us keep the venue accessible while covering rising operational costs and reinvesting in our programs for young and emerging artists.

Here’s a summary of the new rates:

Commercial – $35/hr
Default rate - no documentation required.

Community / Artist (ticketed/funded) – $21/hr
For artists or groups running funded or ticketed events, or those with significant community reach. A brief description of your work is required.

Community / Not-For-Profit – $17.50/hr
For registered NFPs or community projects. Proof of NFP status or explanation of use required.

Artist Under 30 – $14/hr
For independent artists aged under 30. Photo ID or proof of age and explanation of venue use required.

You’ll need to submit your documentation through the New User Registration Form to unlock these rates.

Existing quotes or invoices? You’ll stay on your current arrangement until it expires - the new pricing only applies to new bookings made through Meeting Hub.

Cancellations & Refunds

We’ve updated our cancellation policy too. Here’s what you need to know:

  • 7+ days before booking – 100% refund

  • 2–6 days before – 50% refund

  • 0–1 day before – No refund

To reschedule a booking, please cancel the original and create a new one.
