Young Creators Workshops begin February 12 in a new venue, Seven Hills Hub!

Backbone Young Creators Workshops are an invigorating, creative and uplifting space for young people aged 8 and up to engage with imagination, playfulness, and learning through creative arts.

We know the valuable skills people learn through the creative arts are for life. Backbone Young Creators Workshops build confidence, skills in collaboration and public speaking and boosts focus and dedication. Backbone’s Young Creators Workshops are an excellent way for young people to engage with their peers, while developing their creative skills.

SKILL BUILDERS

AGES 8+
SATURDAY 11:30AM – 1:00PM

Skill Builders will take their acting skills and understanding of performance to the next level. Term 1 will focus on movement, embodiment, and character. How can our bodies express complex emotions, ideas, and feelings? How can our bodies help us tell stories? Skill Builders will work with their facilitators and each other to use these concepts to dive deeper into character development and creation.


YOUNG MAKERS

AGES 13+
SATURDAY 1:30PM – 3:00PM

Participants in Young Makers will develop the skill set to collaboratively devise new work that speaks to the issues that matter to them most. Young Makers will explore acting, writing, dramaturgy, and direction.

Term 1 will focus on physicality and embodiment in their artistic practice. How can our bodies be used as a storytelling and theatrical tool to express complex emotions, ideas, and feelings?
