HEMINGWAY | October 17th
One man writes his legend in real time…
“He had so many sides to him. He defied geometry.”
It’s 1926. Ernest Hemingway has just published his breakthrough novel The Sun Also Rises. And yet Hemingway is coming home to an empty apartment in an abandoned sawmill. Drunk and broke, divorcing his first love and marrying the ‘other woman’, he is as lost as the Lost Generation. As his quest to become king of the fiction racket reaches its peak, Hemingway must reckon with the oaths he has made and betrayed along the way.
In Hemingway, Matty Butler distils his ten-year obsession into a neat hour. The adventure and the cautionary tale, a one-man Heming-Play about the masks we armour ourselves in, and what it costs us when we lose ourselves in our own fictions.
