TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG
Ngambala Wiji Li-Wunungu: Together We Are Strong, Backbone’s 2021 artistic program, is a coming together of collaborators we have dreamed of, inviting young people and their communities to create & learn together.
Ngambala Wiji Li-Wunungu means: together we are strong. The language is Yanyuwa, a rare and precious language from Borroloola (Gulf Country). The title is taken from the album name of the same title by Shellie Morris that she created in collaboration with the Boroloola Songwomen.
This year’s program artwork has been designed by Nungala Creative. Logo Design by Kamahi King.
As the years turn into minutes and the hours turn into lifetimes, our collective experience of who we are and what truly matters, what we will stand for and what we are fighting for has been called into immediate action. There is no hiding from the year that was 2020. The shift in our collective experience of time, distance and safety will echo through our lives for years to come. Ngambala Wiji Li-Wunungu - Together We are Strong is a call into each other’s arms and hearts.
