Lead Producer: Neon Green - Sandi Woo

Sandi Woo is a Brisbane-based independent producer, dance artist, community development facilitator and educator. For over 25 years, Sandi has worked in the arts industry both as a freelancer and with established organisations in WA (Perth and Broome), NSW (Sydney) and QLD.

She has developed, produced and/or delivered a number of community projects in Broome (YouTube Me Dance, Gallery Moves, Because of You…), Brisbane (Open Practice, eMErgence, The Quest, IndepenDANCE, All The Dancing/If Only I Could, BrisASIA Festival) and Denmark WA (The Creation of Now, The Beauty Index, Because of You…covid online edition).

Sandi believes in the power of the creative process to reflect, learn, and observe ourselves in daily life. Her work aims at providing opportunities for community to engage with movement and dance improvisation to develop a body/mind connection and foster creativity and personal growth.

In 2017, Sandi worked as Project Officer for Ausdance Qld’s Community and Regional program a teaching artist on the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Royal Ballet and Micah Projects community project We All Dance.

She produced the 2018 Australian Dance Awards and is currently working on a number of collaborative projects using contemporary dance in community contexts, including a second stage development of The Quest in 2020/2021. Sandi is also the Assistant Program Director on Sounds Across Oceans inter-cultural, inter-disciplinary project for seniors, Tree of Life.

In 2019, she completed a six month trip around Australia in a camper trailer with her family. She is currently undertaking a mentorship with Margi Brown Ash to extend her collaborative practice as it relates to her community development practice. She has also developed a number of artist exchange initiatives that are based in the philosophies of open-source, collective care and driven from the participating individual’s interests.
