YOUNG CREATORS

In 2021 we have launched the Young Creators workshops, which will take and broaden our signature drama workshop framework, as well as incorporate a new song-writing workshop.

Every Saturday the bowlo is taken over by two of Australia’s most exciting young ensembles; The Wasabi Flamingos (akaSkill Builders), and Everything-1 (Everything minus one, aka Young Makers).

More than just meme generated trash talk, these two ensembles have been working together for over 7 years in some cases, mastering the art of devising, theatre making and above all else remaining in steadfast criticism of the adult world. Working in close collaboration with Sarah Ogden and Prince Brown, these young makers will generate new content on an annual basis.

LINGUA OPEN SOURCE RESIDENCY

Are you a young person or a community group looking for support and resources that will assist in the creation of a new project idea that celebrates language and culture? Backbone's open source format is year-round, we are here for you! We got you! Sometimes the best ideas take time to build and we want to know all about it no matter how big or small that idea is. We don't have much, but we love sharing what we do have, so jump in and let us know if you have an idea that could do with some time, space and advice to get it rolling.

YOUNG PRODUCERS PROGRAM

This is the training ground for a new generation of aspiring producers to develop and build on the future of a vibrant, creative and culturally diverse arts sector.

In 2021, Backbone welcomes four talented young producers from First Nations and diverse cultural backgrounds (POC) to the training opportunity of a lifetime. Working under the facilitation of industry leader Letila Mitchell, these four young producers will work together to level up their producing skills and create new events of their own design.

Successful applicants will be announced shortly!
