ON DISPLAY

DESIGNED FOR VISUAL ARTISTS TO DEVELOP, CREATE AND PUBLICLY EXHIBIT NEW WORKS THAT EXPLORE THE REALMS OF THE CURIOUS, UNTAMED AND EXPERIMENTAL.

Backbone’s On Display Program provided visual artists aged 30 years and under with exhibition space, time, and resources to develop new exhibits for public display.

Open to individual creative practitioners and small groups across all visual art mediums, Backbone’s On Display allowed creators to revel in the experimental, and explore beyond the traditional confines of visual art.

In collaboration with Meanjin artist Micah Rustchelli, Backbone presented an exclusive opportunity for visual artists to craft captivating installations within a public glass display cabinet located at Seven Hills Hub. Each artist received an artist’s fee of $3000 and access to their own public display cabinet for 4 months, enabling them to exhibit their work, spark conversations, and engage the public with their artistic narratives.

On Display welcomed visual artists across varied multi-disciplinary practices to apply. This was an invitation to not only exhibit but to immerse the audience in interactive works, collaborative endeavours, and innovative processes.

Join us in rewriting the rules of artistic exhibition.
