Raising our voices for Child Protection Week 2022

To join Child Protection Week 2022, Backbone celebrated what makes children and young people feel safe and supported.

We know we thrive when we thrive when we have safe, connected and supportive spaces - and this is especially true for children and young people!

At our Young Creators Workshops, we asked our young participants what makes them feel safe, heard and supported?

Together with our dedicated facilitators, our Young Creators made the tree house of safety using recycled and found objects, presenting a unique perspective on child protection.

Together, our Skill Builders (aged 8-12) and our Young Makers (aged 12-18) raised their voices to express what empowers them and makes them feel safe through the creation of this visual arts exhibition, which is now on display at Seven Hills Hub.

During their workshops, they engaged in a series of activities that taught them about their rights, safety and provided tools for agency to stand up for themselves and others, because child protection is everybody’s business.

Check out the exhibition below, or visit Seven Hills Hub to see it in full force, and read more about Child Protection Week here.
