Have you always wanted to make a performance from scratch with a team in a hurry but the hurry won’t come? Have you worked in co-devising ensembles and are now scarred and disgusted by the model entirely? Do you think every costume I’ve ever put on stage is beautiful beyond compare? Let those feelings flow in this daylong hands-on co-devised theatre workshop where the costumes and props from my previous works will be given new life and more stage time (important). Learn techniques for snap democratic decisions, instantaneous narrative, immediate symbolism, lightning fast script writing and present your master/disasterpiece to the adoring crowds of Backbone Festival 2022! 

ABOUT ESTHER DOUGHERTY
Esther Dougherty is an independent artist living and loving in so-called Australia. Since graduating a BFA Drama at QUT they have written and independently produced three original plays, The Moon Men (2015), Pawpaw Dog & Other Dog (2021) and Slippery (2022). From 2014 – 2019 Esther was a member of The SUI Ensemble. They were a creator and performer for the group’s last work La Silhouette, which toured to London’s Battersea Arts Centre in 2019 before returning to a sold out season at Brisbane Powerhouse’s MELT Festival. La Silhouette was awarded Best Independent Production at the 2020 Matilda Awards. In 2022 Esther’s play Pawpaw Dog & Other Dog was published by Playlab Theatre. Latest news is they have been working as a Venue and Events Coordinator at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre in Katherine, NT. They presented a showing of Pawpaw Dog & Other Dog for the people of Katherine from their back deck.
